'Redbuds Along the Battlefield'
Oil 9 x 12
Last Spring we took a road trip to the Gettysburg Battlefield
and I was able to get some nice photographs of the redbuds
and dogwoods blooming. This particular view is from
Ayers Avenue along the Auto Tour. I loved the way the
light was streaming through the trees, catching the
colors of the redbuds and creating beautiful diagonal
shadows in the foreground.

I love redbud trees! We have a ton of them on the farm. I can't wait to get out and paint them this spring. Beautiful painting!!
Thanks, Kim. I love the redbuds too, and grow some along the tree-line of our property. This Spring I am hoping to go directly to the battlefield to paint the redbuds.
Heartbreakingly beautiful, Claire. How could man do battle in the midst of such beauty?
And from the ashes rise new beauty. A glorious painting, Claire.
this is beautiful, love the light and colour in it...
Thank you, Marie. I have often wondered the same thing.
Thanks so much, Kat.
Beautiful painting. Perfect for Spring.
These flowering trees are my favorite. When I walk in groups of them, it feels magical to me, and the smell intoxicating. Wish I was there! Nice painting!!
What a lovely scene, soft and misty colors. I love it!
Thank you, Karen, Mary Anne and Virginia. Gettysburg is such a special place, regardless of the time of year - but I do love it when the redbuds bloom.
