SEPARATION ANXIETY

'Separation Anxiety'
Oil 6 x 6

I love tomatoes fresh from my garden, and during
the winter I buy these 'vine ripened' hothouse
tomatoes because they are the closest thing I can
find to the real deal. The other three tomatoes that
were connected to this vine became a delicious
supper of grilled provelone and tomato sandwiches
last night...leaving this little guy all by himself.

GLIMPSE OF GOLD

"Glimpse of Gold"
Oil 11 x 14

I was in a hurry one morning, on my way into
Carlisle for an appointment when I saw these
sugar maples in all of their golden glory. All I
could think about was that I hoped I could get
a picture of them on my way home, and I
prayed the whole time I was in the doctor's
office that when I got back to the scene the
light would be the same.

I was lucky on two counts - I always carry
my camera with me, and my appointment
was very short so I was able to get some
great photos with the light just as I had wanted.
This is the first of two paintings that I hope
to do from that experience.

FIRST BLOGAVERSARY

I just realized that I started my Artblog a little over a year ago. What an adventure this has been! I want to thank everyone who has stopped in to take a look, and my fantastic blog followers, and a special thanks to everyone who took the time to comment.

I've met some incredible people through this process, and really look forward to another year of posting my artwork and meeting more artists and people who appreciate the arts.

Thank you everyone, this would have been a very lonely journey without all of you.

Memories of Maine Series
East Pond Shoreline WIP

'East Pond Shoreline'
Work In Progress
Oil 20 x 30

First, and most importantly - my prayers go out
to all of the people of Haiti, and all of their relatives
around the world waiting to hear if their family
members are safe.

This is perhaps the painting I wanted to do most
from my memories of Maine. It's a little area
that was located to the left of the dock by the
cabin we stayed in. The minute I saw the glow of
the rocks in the water, and the rippling waves, I knew
I had to paint this.

Just started it today. My only wish is to get this
to look the same way it looks in my heart.

Winter Glow

'Winter Glow'
Oil 6 x 8

I was going to take a break today to get some
housework done...well, it just didn't happen. I
sat down at my easel and started this painting,
working from photographs I took after the first
big snow we had this past December. The late
afternoon light on that day had produced
the most gorgeous colors.

Once I got started, I could not stop...I did not
even break for lunch. Love being in this mode - I
feel so creative and the energy is really flowing.

Memories of Maine Series
Daybreak

'Daybreak'
Oil 8 x 16
Started this one last night, and then finished it up
today. This is the view from the cabin again, but
of the right side of Miller's island as the sun was
beginning to break.
I have to say that I am having more fun with each
painting I do from this series...I think it's because
of all of the wonderful memories it is bringing
forth!

Memories of Maine Series
Around the Bend

'Around the Bend'
Oil 6 x 8

Thought I would work on one of the smaller Maine paintings
today. My husband and I had taken the boat out late one
afternoon, and I got some great pictures. This view is
across the pond and to the left of where we were staying.
It was a great little island to kayak around!

Sunrise on East Pond

Memories of Maine Series
'Sunrise on East Pond'
6 X 12 Oil

When I was in Maine, I loved to get up before
everyone else and sneak out to sit on the dock and
watch the sun come up. This is from photos and
memories of my last day there, and it was the
most splendid sunrise of all.

Memories of Maine Series
Sunlit Birches along East Pond

Memories of Maine Series
'Sunlit Birches along East Pond'
12x16 on stretched canvas

Just coming off the holiday break - very little painting,
and no blogging. Today I finished this painting which
is the first in a series of paintings I want to do from
my trip to Maine this past Summer.

Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year 2010!
