'Through the Trees'
Rockville Bridge, Harrisburg, PA
An Original Oil Painting

I absolutely love painting along water, and especially
the Susquehanna River here in Pennsylvania.  When I am
there I often take lots of photos as reference for future work.
This is one that I have been wanting to paint for over three years...
and is of a glimpse of my favorite Rockville Bridge
through the foliage of trees and wild plants.

I apologize for the glare - it is just off my easel.

Painting along the Susquehanna River in West Fairview, PA
on a beautiful, and very hot July morning...  I loved the way
the humidity softened edges and colors, especially on the
capitol building.

'Deep in the Heart of Texas'
An Original Oil Painting

When it comes to flowers, without a doubt the blue
ones are my favorite.  In my garden here in Pennsylvania
I treasure my false indigo, russian sage, and Virginia bluebells.
My nephew took some photographs of the wonderful
bluebonnets in the Hill Country of Texas,
and I am so grateful that he allowed me to use some of
them as reference material to paint these hills of blue.

This is my twenty third entry for Leslie Saeta's 'Thirty Paintings in
Thirty Days Challenge 2015'.  For this challenge, I have
decided to do thirty small studies from my trip last September
to Martha's Vineyard.  My hope is that some of these studies
will be worked into larger paintings.

As we got off the ferry to Chappaquiddick and walked
toward the infamous bridge (called Kennedy's car wash
by the natives), I saw this wonderful green boat in
a marshy area - and it was screaming 'Paint Me!'
I am glad that I finally did...

'Texas Blues'
An Original Oil Painting

I painted this in thanks to my nephew who
graciously allowed me to use his 'Hill Country' photos
as a source of reference for some paintings
of bluebonnets I am working on.  It was so much fun
to paint this old live oak - it had so much character!

'Interlude'
An Original Oil Painting
by Claire Beadon Carnell

Oil on Archival Linen Panel

After having a particularly harsh winter, I was really
looking forward to the warmer, sun-filled days
of summer here in the Susquehanna Valley.
However, we have had far more days of rain
than sun, so this particular interlude of
blue skies was especially treasured!
