FLOWERING CRABAPPLE AT WILLOW PARK
Original Plein Air
Oil Painting
by Claire Beadon Carnell

'Flowering Crabapple at Willow Park'
Oil   9 x 12

This past Friday morning, several members of our plein air group, the
Susquehanna Valley Plein Air Painters met to paint at Willow Park,
in the borough of Camp Hill.  We have had so much rain
(along with some pretty vicious storms) this Spring - everything
is lush and green, and the flowering trees are profuse with blooms.
We painted fast - the clouds were moving in with more
rain predicted later in the day, but the morning was excellent
to be outside and painting!

You did a great job on this, I have wanted to paint the ones on our driveway, (they are not out yet) but always felt daunted!! Nicely done!

Mary Anne - thank you for your comments. I have seen your beautiful work and don't think you would have any problem at all painting flowering trees!

Claire, this is so very beautiful! I have a tree in my front yard that has pink blossoms on it. I'm wondering if it is a crabapple tree as well. Plus I've been thinking of painting it too! We shall see; by the time I get to it, I suspect the blooms will be gone!

Beautiful painting! When these trees come in bloom I can almost envision little fairy's flitting about them! Gorgeous!!!

Thank you, Sherry - those blooms don't last long, do they!

Thanks so much, Catherine!

Kimberly - I think the same thing! As I was painting the petals would drop and float in the air, just like little fairies. I made sure to paint some of those drifting petals/fairies!

Your painting of this lovely landscape is delightful, Claire, with this little creek and the pink blossom tree!
