IRIS IN THE GARDEN

Day 76

March Showers, April Showers, May Showers...
Enough already!  I have NEVER seen things so green and
plush in the garden, but because of all of the rain, the blooms
that do appear are only there for a short period of time
before the rain destroys them.  The iris are especially
affected because of their delicate petals.  I am so
glad that I got some photographs on a (somewhat)
sunny day so that I could paint them for my challenge.
Hoping for some consecutive sunny days so I can
get my garden planted, and also plant those flats of lovely
flowers sitting on my back porch just waiting to bloom
in the flower beds!

HI Claire - lovely iris! We have the same issues here...lots of rain, lots of green - hopefully will make us soon happy plein air painters!

Such beautiful irises, Claire! I love that the two varieties grow right next to each other. What a beautiful garden you must have!

Lovely muted soft colors. We could use some of that rain here in San Antonio. We are in a severe drought with water restrictions.

Beautiful iris, Claire. The sun is shining today and rain's gone for awhile. It's time to paint outdoors! Have fun.

Thank you, Pattie - I am hoping that all of this lush foliage we are getting will also be quite beautiful this fall!

Thanks so much, Sherry. I have some gorgeous iris thanks to the generosity of some of my fellow gardening friends - nothing like sharing :)

Thank you for your comments, Virginia. Wish I could send you some of our rain - we have had over 19 inches in the past two and a half months, and we are expecting showers all next week... Such strange weather all around the world!

I hear you, Linda! Today I have the annual art exhibit for my students, so I won't have any time to paint...but you better believe I will be doing some tomorrow!
