FOGGY MORNING
An Original Plein Air
Oil Painting
by Claire Beadon Carnell

'Foggy Morning'
Oil
 16 x 8

Yesterday morning we painted at Samuel Lewis State Park,
and the area was completely fogged in - you could
not even see the view of the river.  However, the
fog created such beautiful, muted color and it wasn't
hard to just jump in and start painting!  I liked the way
these rocks provided a bit of color to the scene.

Gros bisous

Claire, I believe you were one of the first followers on my blog as well. I am thrilled to own the painting and cannot wail until it arrives.

This one looks like a photograph! I actually had to scroll back up and look again when I began reading! Gorgeous job on those rocks and leaves between them. There is always a rather beautiful calm with fog.

This is so beautifully painted! I love the rocks and love the subtle colors due to the fog!!!

Claire - this is so striking it really caught my eye. Your shading on the trees is just perfect & love the rocks as well.

Of course you wouldn't let fog slow you down! Love this format and the tall trees...can feel the mist! Great job!

I love the fog, except for in an automobile. This painting has a perfect - moist looking fog. It's very nice!

Merci, Martine! J'aime aller à la chasse pour les champignons aussi bien, et j'espère trouver quelques délicieux champignons morilles au printemps.

Thank you Sherry - this was a first time for painting fog for me. Must admit, that I enjoyed it!

Thank you, Hilda. I am SUCH a color addict, and this was an interesting exercise in restraint!

Thanks so much for your comment, Nan. This is a different type of painting for me, and I really was happy with the results.

Thanks, Rosemary. It took almost an hour and a half to get to the site - so even if it was raining I think I would have tried to paint something from the car!

I was so glad that I had that 8 x 16 canvas in my car, Padmaja. As soon as I saw those rocks and trees, I knew I wanted a vertical format for my painting!

I agree with you, Pattie. Had to drive through some pea-soup fog to get to the site. Was thinking about turning around and going home, but half-way there it started to lift a bit. My only regret is that I did not get to see the spectacular view of the Susquehanna River from this park because it was too foggy. Will have to go back again on a sunny day!
