'Still Waters'
An Original Oil Painting
by Claire Beadon Carnell

Two years ago, I got the opportunity to go
up to Nancy and Eric Olson's farm in Port Royal
to paint their fields of sunflowers.  While I
was there I walked around and got some
photographs, and this is one of the amazing
views I found that I wanted to paint.
I even liked the little bit of algae in the water
that created breaks in the stillness.

Such a beautiful scene and beautiful painting, Claire. It was kind of interesting to see you use the word "stillness" in your writing as I had just finished reading the quote by Mother Theresa in the upper right corner of your blog. Perfectly fitting.

Thank you, Susan - that was definitely what made me want to paint this scene.

Thank you, Marie! I will feel I have succeeded if the viewer feels the stillness.
