CHANCE OF RAIN
(Ft. Hunter, Susquehanna River)
Original Plein Air
Oil Painting
by Claire Beadon Carnell

'Chance of Rain'
Ft. Hunter, Susquehanna River
Oil on Panel
8 x 16

Last Thursday I painted at Ft. Hunter, along the
Susquehanna River.  The day was overcast, with a chance
of rain in the weather predictions.  I particularly liked this
view of the river that included the receding mountains and
the cloudy sky.  Even in the more subdued tones, there
were still many different colors.

Below is a picture of my painting in progress.

ROSE OF SHARON
by Claire Beadon Carnell
100 Paintings in 100 Days Challenge
'Inspirations from a Back Yard'
82/100

'Rose of Sharon'
6 x 6
82/100

Day 82

I did this painting for the Daily Paintworks 'Nature's Arrangement
Challenge'.  The instruction was to paint some flowers plein air using
a very limited palette of one blue, one red, one yellow and
white.  You were to use only a large, medium and small paintbrush
and you had to stop after painting for one hour and call it
'done'!  This worked out well for me because it also fulfilled
my own '100 Paintings in 100 Days Challenge - Inspirations from a
Back Yard' Challenge, and also provides me with a new
plein air painting to post on the SVPAP blog - and most of
all was just a lot of fun to paint.  Can't ask for better!!!
