Landscape Commission - Step 4

Working along, playing the lights and darks against each other so that I can keep the look of dappled sunlight. I am itching to start painting in the wildflowers, but I have to exert some patience...not always an easy thing for me to do!

Lovely idyllic scene, I like the recession of the trees, I imagine that this is a large painting.

I have never seen this cabin other than through the photographs I was given, but I imagine what a beautiful place this is, and the different wildlife the owners of this cabin must get to see when they are there. I know from other views, there are beautiful mountain ranges in sight as well.
This is a 12 X 16 oil painting, Diane. Thanks so much for your comments!

You have really captured the light beautifully in this!

Claire, this painting is sooo unified. You have the values all where they should be. You're greens are so realistic, and the tree near the cabin has so much volume. The roof and the subtle lights and shadows are so well handled. It's a great painting!

Claire, this is really developing into a wonderfully executed painting. Love your contrast of dark and light. You are achieving that objective. The dappled sunshine adds so much interest to this idyllic spot. Can't wait to see the wild flowers addition. That will be the icing on the cake. I'm sure you will end up with just the right amount. The recipient will be so pleased to display this. Have they seen any of the progression or will it be a pleasant surprise when they receive it?
