DAY EIGHT GETTYSBURG FRINGE FESTIVAL
Plein Air Event
Original Oil Painting
by Claire Beadon Carnell

DAY EIGHT - JUNE 17, 2011
Gettysburg Fringe Festival Plein Air Event

When I left my house this morning, the sky was gloomy and there
was an occasional sprinkle on my windshield.  I was
tempted to turn around and head back home, but knowing
this was my last day to paint in this plein air event I decided
to keep on heading toward Gettysburg.  I am so glad I did -
as I got closer to the battlefield the skies cleared.  I
drove around and found these white barns at the intersection
of the Wheatfield Road and Crawford Road, and within
sight of Little Round Top, Big Round Top and Devil's Den.

This has been so much fun!  I am a bit sad that it is ending.

My gear and a view of the area I was painting.  The wind
got a bit brisk several times, and I was hanging on to my
umbrella and brushes for dear life!

Linda working diligently on her painting of a view of
Little Round Top.  Can't wait to see the finished piece!

My paintings, and the paintings of all of the other plein
air artists participating in this event will be on exhibit at the
 Historic Train Station
Gettysburg, PA
1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M

This Saturday I will be participating in the
2011 Barnstormers Tour in Frederick, MD. Looks like
we're going to have some good weather to paint!

Wonderful light in this, Claire! Really nice job on the variety of greens in the trees too.

Thanks so much, Gwen. It was such a nice little place, and the light was gorgeous that morning.
