Day 85

On a day when the clouds are getting darker and
more ominous, and the winds from the outer edges
of Hurricane Irene are blowing through the trees, I thought
it would be nice to post the painting I did yesterday
from a bouquet of sunflowers I picked while painting
on site at Eric and Nancy Olsen's Windmill Creek Studio
farm this past Tuesday.  I painted the sunflower from life,
but brought up the memory of the color of the sky
from Tuesday to add as my background...think it works
better than an ominous shade of grey...

Lovely, Claire. I really like the grayed-greens in the base of the flower. They look beautiful next to the yellows and oranges of the petals.

Awww, a lovely little baby sunflower! I love ominous gray skies!

Thank you for your very kind comments, Virginia! I really enjoyed working with those greyish greens.

Thanks, Sherry! Although I don't mind an occasional stormy, grey sky - the other vibrant colors like blues, violets, reds, yellows, oranges, corals...these are my preference!
