SUNLIT HYDRANGEAS IN GETTYSBURG
An Original Plein AIr Oil Painting
by Claire Beadon Carnell

'Sunlit Hydrangeas in Gettysburg'
Gettysburg Festival Art Colony  2012
Oil
6 x  8

I painted this on our first day of the Gettysburg Festival Artist
Colony.  After all of the artists got settled into our
digs at the Lamp Post dormitory, we walked over to
the campus of the Gettysburg College to paint.  I spotted
these sun-kissed hydrangeas right by the entrance
of the Administration Building.  It was a wonderful way
to start an even more wonderful experience!!!

Lovely! The beautiful colorful flowers and shadows that just seem to dance across the canvas are just lovely!

Claire, your flower paintings are so soft and lovely. I love the shadows in this one, and the contrasting warm and cool colors! Beautiful!

Hi Claire - you have captured such light and color on this one. Hydrangeas are beautiful flowers. I think I told you I have a cousin that attended Gettysburg College. She was very fond of the experience. You are very fortunate to be around such great history of our country as often as you are. Paint on!!

Thank you, Sherry. This garden is on the campus of Gettysburg College and is right in front of their administration building.

Thnaks so much, Maria - I really like how you phrased your comment. As I was painting, I felt as though the light was dancing across the flowers!
