BARTLETT PEARS ON MARBLE

'Bartlett Pears on Marble'
Oil 6 x 8

I did this painting as part of the online painting challenge
Paint and Draw Together, which was started by artist
Lela Stankovic.

I loved the lighting on the pears, the soft
and hard edges, and the reflected light that the photo
reference offered. However, what really grabbed my interest
were the beautiful reds and oranges on the left pear...
probably the most challenging aspect of the painting altogether!

I agree, Claire. Those reds are gorgeous and immediately draw the eyes. Well done on the marble itself and the reflections too!

Beautiful Claire. They look like they are in love and the left one is blushing.

Wow, this is beautiful. The pears are great and I love your use of the variety of value changes in the shadows, also.

Hi Claire, I saw your painting on http://paintanddrawtogether.blogspot.com and I thought this is must be a very accomplished artist. You did the pears so well!

And then when I came to your blog I am so happy to find these stunning paintings. Very beautiful. The brilliant sparkling light in your painting makes them come alive full of optimism and joy.

Like the reflection of the fruits on the marble, making them more shiny!

I would agree that painting the red and green on the one pear would be challenging but you handled it beautifully...well done!

Beautifully done! The left pear really did come out superbly.

Claire, the use of blue makes this so dramatic! Don't know that I've ever seen more beautifully rendered pears! Delicious! Love the shine!

Claire, I was just looking at your entry on paint and draw together and wanted to tell you that you were really missed on the last challenge. Hope you will find time to join in the next one a beautiful sweet strawberry.
