COMING SOON - 100 PAINTINGS IN 100 DAYS CHALLENGE - "INSPIRATIONS FROM A BACK YARD"
'Back Door Garden'
Oil 36 X 48
I've been fascinated by the 100 paintings in 100 days
challenges, and finally came up with an idea as to how
I want to do mine. In a time when most of us are finding that
we have to pinch pennies and make some sacrifices,
staying home and finding entertainment in our own backyards
is a excellent way to return to a time of simple pleasures. When I
was a child growing up in the 60's, my entertainment did not
involve a computer, a Nintendo DS, a cell phone, or any of the
other technological wonders that I find are a 'necessity' in my life today.
Instead, my greatest joy was found in climbing trees, riding my
bike around the neighborhood, making mud pies,
looking up at the stars at night, following an ant trail,
finding a baby blue robin egg,
and picking a tomato fresh from the vine for an afternoon snack.
So...I am going to take these one hundred days to explore and
re-examine my everyday surroundings. It will be like taking
a magnifying glass to my own metaphorical back yard and creating
one hundred paintings in one hundred days from what I see.
I hope that you will join me in my journey that will be beginning
soon...stay tuned!

Like this idea. It would be good practice for a plein aire class I'm taking in June. My garden is beautiful at the moment, in a hundred days it will be high summer in Kansas and it may not be a thing of beauty!!
I was just looking at Carol Nelson's 100 portraits work. What a great way to develop a useful skill like portraiture.
Wow, what an undertaking, Claire. I can't wait and will definitely be following this.
Fantastic! I am looking forward to the perspective you paint from in the trees! ;-)
I tried out the stick bun recipe. Yay! Now i have the full experience of your delicious picture.
It sounds like a great idea. I look forward to following along!
It's a good challenge, and I'll follow it, too.
C'est formidable ce que vous organisez... dommage que je sois trop loin pour me joindre à vous.
Très belle peinture avec de magnifiques couleurs.
Amitiés?
I can't wait to see what you find on your journey! I know it will be beautiful though, as is this painting! I so often just totally get bummed out over those simple times being gone.
Hi Claire,

This is a huge undertaking - all the best for this project and I look forward to seeing the 100 paintings as they emerge.
Great idea. I look forward to following it.
Excellent project. We so often overlook the beauty that is out our back door.
I can't wait for this to start and follow along...Go Momma!!!!!
Hi, Clarie, lovely work! I adore how you incorporate such lovely values in your work!
I've been thinking of doing something in a numbered challenge, as well, but definitely not my backyard! This is a terrific idea and I look forward to seeing your lovely work...start painting!!
You go, Claire! It's a wonderful, creative personal challenge, and I can't wait to see what you discover in 'your backyard'.
Excellent. Best of luck with the challenge. I'm looking forward to seeing you paint your yard. I adore my yard, and I photograph it everyday, but I've yet to make a successful painting of it.
What a challenge you have set yourself, good luck with it. I am sure you will learn a lot and it will be very exciting journey.
Thanks so much for the encouragement everyone! I think (I hope) I know what I am getting myself into!!!
