Day 42

The thistle is such a humble weed...yet
this plant has been the national symbol of Scotland
for over 500 years, and is deeply embedded in
Scottish legend and lore.

This is so very beautiful, Claire. I didn't realize it was part of Scottish lore. How cool!

I really like how this thistle fits atop the great background color and the canvas weave. Beautiful!

You are almost half way there in your 100 day challenge and such a variation you have given us. The thistle is the emblem of Scotland, the leek for Wales, the shamrock for Ireland and the rose for England, just by-the-way!
You are doing a beautiful job, keep em coming ;)

I have many Scottish collectables with thistle, including a grandfather's clock. Very nice.

Your backyard paintings are such an inspiration...I need to check my backyard. I will be back often to see what you paint next.

Thank you everyone! Diana, I did not know that the leek was the emblem of Wales!
