Day 80

With the very wet Spring that we had this year, I
never was able to get my sunflower seeds in the
ground - such a disappointment as I love them for
their beauty and for the seeds they provide for the birds.

My daughter had a random seed pop up in
her veggie garden - a sunflower that is at least seven
feet tall!  I got some photographs of this beautiful stray
sunflower, and used them to develop my painting.
May have to take another picture of this once it
is completely dry - sorry for the glare!

So lovely, Claire. We had a wet spring too, but summer where I live has been pretty dry. We're showing thunderstorms every day for the past 5 days and areas all around us have had quite a bit of rain in the past few days. We had barely a sprinkle the other morning. That is is. But I did see for the first time ever two huge fields of all sunflowers! First time I'd ever seen a sunflower crop anywhere but on tv (and that was a horror movie) and it just looked amazing!

gros bisous

Very nicely painted Sunflower! I've been struggling with flowers lately but you make it look easy, Claire.

Sherry, several years ago we had a huge field of sunflowers growing right up the road - it was before I had my digital camera, and I shot over four different rolls of film! Thanks so much for commenting!

Thanks Mary Anne - I am cetrainly familiar with wiping out, and sometimes like the base color left behind.
