BURNSIDE BRIDGE
Antietam National Battlefield
Original Plein Air Painting
by Claire Beadon Carnell

'Burnside Bridge'
(Antietam National Battlefield)
Oil
8 x 16

This is one of the plein air paintings that are currently in the
'Hallowed Ground - En Plein Air' exhibit until
November 27th at the Delaplaine Center in Frederick, MD.

It was such a hot, humid day when I was there painting at
Antietam, and also a day when millions of gnats were
out in full force.  The funny thing is that when you are really
into your painting, the heat and bugs just seem to
disappear...until you come back to the real world!

So beautiful, Claire! I love those old trees, probably standing there during the battle. A perfectly serene scene that belies the site's history!
