I just got back from taking a fantastic workshop by Ron
Donoughe, and then heading up to Albany, NY so that
we could explore the Hudson River Valley down to West Point.
Here's a warning - NEVER rely solely on your electronics...
we had programmed our GPS with all of the locations we wanted
to see, and as we started our journey, the GPS died.
Thank goodness we both knew how to read maps,
but there were still a large number of U-turns and some cursing!!!
I did this painting on site at North-South Lake in the Catskills,
and it took me about two hours to complete.
It was a place that Thomas Cole (the founder of the
Hudson River Valley School of Painting) used to like
to paint, and I can certainly understand why.
I kept hoping this tree beside me would keep standing...

This is just beautiful, Claire! And I'd be the one to lean up against that tree and cause it to come crashing down. How interesting nature is!

I love your blues, Claire. It's a beautiful painting. Plus the fact, a beaver has been quite busy trying to fall that tree for it's dam. "Timberrrrrr!"
