Oil Plein Air
Herring River,
Harwich, Cape Cod, MA
10 x 20

This was the place where we came to paint after we
arrived in Cape Cod.  All of the painters were there, and
most had started to work.  Because we did not get in until late
the night before, we were a little behind.  It was a bit cloudy
that day, but we got out of the car and got all set up to paint...
that's when it started to rain.  Had to throw everything back in
the car, and Johanna and Clare and I decided that we would
use the time to investigate some of the local lighthouses.'

The next day, the sun was shining, and there was a nice
breeze ruffling the tops of the marsh grasses when
we went back to the Herring River to paint these
magnificent red boats.

Sounds like you had a great time, Claire! Love the boats and am thinking the owners must have had to wear waders to get to them? Is there herring in the river?

I loved those red boats too, Hilda. I found out that the owner keeps them there for the artists - what a thoughtful person!

Thank you, Sherry - I think the owner uses a little dingy to get to the boats.
