Day 20
This little cabbage butterfly was so kind to sit
still long enough so that I could snap some reference
photos of him on the pink verbena. It happened on
one of the rare sunny afternoons we have been
having.

This is beautiful, Claire, so rich and deep. I adore the faint hints of pink (reflection or natural) at the edges of the butterfly's wings...And now I know what verbena looks like!

I really like the dark background. It makes the butterfly look so delicate. And, now, I too know what verbena looks like.

I love these paintings, and what a great idea to be inspired by one's own back yard. It just shows that nature provides beauty and inspiration everywhere. This painting jumped out on my blog list. The softness and simplicity are very striking. I also loved: Miracles, Nesting, Fortitude, and especially Annette's Garden. Is Annette's Garden for sale, and if so, how much? I always say that I can't buy until I sell more, but I can hope :)
