Day 97
This past weekend, we got whammied with an early snow storm
that knocked out our electricity for almost three days. My
ultimate goal was to try to stay as warm as I could, and so
when I got enough light to paint, I thought this gala apple with
a nice warm-colored background would be great.
The only problem was that while I was painting, I kept
thinking what delicious warm applesauce this apple would make...
or an apple crisp straight from the oven...or a hot apple pie...
All things that would have required electricity...
Of course as soon as the electricity came on, my priorities
shifted from thoughts of warm apple deliciousness
to just getting a nice WARM shower!

Gros bisous
You're so funny, Claire!! funny post.... But beautiful apple. I can see why you were thinking of all these wonderful desserts while painting. Love the softness of this apple...well done.
I always think this striped apples are difficult, but you did a great job! So sorry about the lack of electricity. Three days! Glad things are back to normal.
The yellow sparkles on the top, it looks too good to eat.. I would just enjoy looking at it!
It's so dramatic to be privated of electricity nowadays, we are so used to it..
In any case, beautiful apple!
This is one beautiful apple, Claire! Hope you got through the storm virtually unscathed otherwise. The news here showed what the east coast was having to deal with and it was so beautiful, but so unexpected I gather.
Doing something special for 100/100!!??
An apple with character! Love the little leaf too.
So glad the electricity is back on,three days is a long time to be without.
Merci, Martine!
Thank you Hilda - I believe that thinking of warm apple desserts while I painted was a way into tricking my mind into believing that it wasn't cold in the house...did not really work, but was fun none the less!
I am so glad that our power is back too, Virginia! Every once in awhile the electricity flickers (just enough to knock out the electric clocks), but I can live with that as long as we have HEAT!
Thanks so much, Padmaja - it actually was a very delicious apple in the end... :)
Sylviane, thank you! We take so much for granted - a flick of a switch usually brings us everything we want! Losing the power for three days definitely made me more appreciative of what I have - especially when I think of my friends who are STILL without power.
Sherry, it was quite a storm. We only got about 9 - 10 inches of heavy wet snow, and in the grand scheme of things really did not lose too many limbs considering how many trees are in our yard.
I am just so grateful to have my power back.
Hi Pam...I am thinking about how I want to end my challenge...have a couple of ideas...
Thanks, Azra! Yes - three hours is a long time to be without power. We lost a lot of what was in our refrigerator. Thinking of getting a generator in case this happens again since this is the second major power shortage we have had in the past two months.
Thank you for commenting on my apple :)
Too funny Claire! I was out of power for only 24 hrs thank God. That was major stinko!!! I feel for you -three days wow. Regardless you ended up here with anther little gem of a still life.
