Oil

This Summer, we had the pleasure of going to Port Royal, PA
to paint on the farm of Eric and Nancy Olson. Before leaving,
we were allowed to take some of these gorgeous sunflowers
home with us. I took mine up to my studio, plopped them into
this old half-gallon canning jar and took loads of pictures for

I love sunflowers and you painted this beautifully. Putting them in this jar was a wonderful idea.
Amazing job Claire, I can look right through that glass jar! The flowers brought shine to my cold day!
This beautiful painting certainly made me miss summer!
Awwww, I love the sunflower against the wood background! So very nice!
Love the colour of the glass and those beautiful sunflowers, pleasing composition too.
What is it about sunflowers, they are so alluring! I just love them and never tire of them, this is a great composition and representation of them! Love the jar!
I love the rusticity of this piece and the dot of light blue in the surface of the water is perfection and a perfect example of why you are such an amazing artist, Claire. Beautiful!
Thank you, Hilda. I find that when I bring flowers in from the garden I usually put them in old milk bottles or canning jars - just like the way they look.
Padmaja, your comment really put a smile on my face - Thank you!
Thank you, Azra - we have been having some great weather here, but looks like it is going to get really 'Winter-like' by the end of the week. I will be glad to have these sunflowers to look at to remember the warmth of summer!
Thank you, Sunny!
Thanks so much, Diana. I really appreciate the comment about the composition because I put a lot of thought into placement of that jar especially.
Mary Anne- thanks so much for your very kind comment!
You're making me blush, Sherry. Thank you!
