OPENING RECEPTION
'Hallowed Ground - En Plein Air' Exhibit
at the Delaplaine Center

Two years ago, I was approached by artists Peter Plant and Deb Richardson
and asked if I would join them in an exhibit that would display our
plein air paintings of Civil War Battlefields.
Yesterday, we had the Opening Reception for our work, and it was
quite exciting to see thefruits of our labor so beautifully displayed
on the walls of the Kline Gallery in the
Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center in Frederick, Maryland.

My thanks to Diane Sibbison, the exhibit coordinator, and to
Deb Richardson and Noralie Katsu for doing such a fantastic
job hanging the show. I also want to thank my family, friends,
fellow artists and my students who came to the exhibit - and also to
those who could not come, but sent such kind and supportive emails.
Thanks also to my daughter for taking pictures!

Here are some pictures from the exhibit:
Deb Richardson, Peter Plant and yours truly...

The Delaplaine Center is a phenomenal building dedicated
to the arts, and it was an honor to exhibit there.  Here are some of the
people who were attending the reception.

I was thrilled to meet  Marion MacKerer, a fellow artist who
has followed my blog for the past two years, and came to see
my paintings in person. Great meeting you, Marion!

Ann Crostic and her husband looking at my painting
which was entitled 'Hallowed Ground'

Congratulations, Claire on your Art Exhibit!! You look like you had a wonderful time. Isn't wonderful meeting our blogger friends in person. It was wonderful when I met Marybeth Brath when she had her exhibit in NYC.

What a wonderful show! Great meeting you!Claire, you capture the moment in your plein air. Just what a plein air painter needs to do. seeing in person and not on line really shows the wonderful color and brushstrokes. you created depth and form on 2D. Kudos.
