LAVENDER BLUE II
an Original Oil Painting
by Claire Beadon Carnell

'Lavender Blue II'
Oil
10 x 8

Among all of the 'stuff' that resides in my studio is a
small collection of old bottles I have collected over the
years.  They always make the neatest vases for those
small bouquets of treasures from the garden - in this
case some late-blooming lavender.

I love the bottle and it goes so well with the lavender! There is a lovely depth in this created by the lace under the bottle and the background!

Claire, to me this is one of your best. I have been sitting here studying that blue glass and how beautifully you handled it and wondering just how you did it. I love the simple rustic beauty of this one!

Very pretty with the doily under the blue bottle. Love the lavender. I plan to visit Chadds Ford and area this spring. You get a real spring down there.

Sherry - I am glad that you picked up on the rustic quality of this. This table and backdrop has been used in other paintings I have done, and is a favorite of mine for its simplicity.

Stephanie - Chadd's Ford is beautiful any time of the year. I hope that you have a wonderful visit!

Thank you, Padmaja! I was kicking myself a bit doing the lace 'holes'. Did try to keep it looser in the back of the doily.

Thanks, Liz. I like all glass/dishes that are blue, or blue and white. I consider it quite an addiction!

Kim - thank you!

Thanks so much, Hilda. I love blue in dishes and in glassware, and just about everywhere for that matter!
