INTO THE DEEP
An Original Plein Air
Oil Painting
by Claire Beadon Carnell

'Into the Deep'
NFS
Oil Plein Air
Fuller Lake
Pine Grove Furnace State Park, PA
10 x 8

I love Fuller Lake, and all of the little pockets of beauty
you can find if you just take the time to look.  This spot is
at one end of the lake, and always holds surprises - especially
in Autumn when the colors of the leaves start to change.

The lake itself is very deep (125 feet), and as we discovered while
we were painting, it is also a place enjoyed by scuba divers.
As I was standing on the shore opposite this scene, I heard
some bubbling noises and looked into the water.  About five
feet below the water's surface, two scuba divers were exploring
all the under-water treasures.  The things you see while
painting outdoors - no wonder I like it so much!

I can so imagine languidly floating about on the lake itself...a book...a picnic lunch...and just completely enjoying the autumn leaves. A beautiful job, Claire!

I can only imagine how interesting it was to see the scuba divers...this painting is so full of color..an outstanding painting, Claire. I just got back from North Carolina and the trees are starting to change color...I wish I was still there to capture the full color!

The variety in the several layers of these foliage is appealing, a spot on, Claire!

It was a very relaxing day, Sherry - and so much fun to see the scuba divers in the water!

Thank you Hilda. I just spent the weekend up at the cabin, and even though the leaves were not at their peak, it was so beautiful One last blast of color before the winter sets in!

Marla, I think I would take the scuba divers over snakes or bears ;)

Beautiful depth and painting, Claire. Love the reflections, also. I think I would have been startled by the divers, not expecting to ever see them in a lake. What a story.
