SECKEL PEAR SHADOW
An Original Oil Painting
by Claire Beadon Carnell
Thirty Paintings in Thirty Days Challenge
Day Twenty Two

'Seckel Pear Shadow'
Leslie Saeta's Thirty Paintings in Thirty Days Challenge
Day Twenty Two

Oil on Panel
6 x 6

Of all the pears, I think I like the seckel pears best.
They are compact, and smaller than most other pears,
and I find their bronze-y green and red coloring
beautiful and fun to paint.  I wanted this one to have a
little drama, so I put it in my box that has limited
light.  My favorite part is the reflected light from
the wooden box that hits the under-belly of the pear...

All of my paintings for this Challenge will be done in a 6 x 6 format,
and my main goal while painting from life
is to LOOSEN UP and USE MORE PAINT...
something which will only benefit my work.

Seckel pear - never heard of it, course here all that seems available are the bare minimum - delicious apples, iceberg lettuce, radishes, and oranges..ha! This market is produce challenged. When I get to the big city, I will have to look for a Seckel! That box is mighty cool - love that rich brownish red you make! Wow 22!

Very nice! I like that the pear sits on top of the wooden box.

This has such a lovely quality to it, the muted tones yet the light is there. Beautiful. Love following your blog.
