STRAWBERRIES AND CREAM
An Original Oil Painting
by Claire Beadon Carnell
Thirty Paintings in Thirty Days Challenge
Day Fourteen

'Strawberries and Cream'
Leslie Saeta's Thirty Paintings in Thirty Days Challenge
Day Fourteen
Oil on Panel
6 x 6

Currently for sale at
Brath and Hughes Fine Arts Gallery, L.L.C.

This has been one of my favorite set-ups to
paint for this challenge.  I stopped at the grocery
store over the weekend and bought these strawberries
and some other fresh fruit for my 'models'...
one of these days I half expect the store security to
approach me and ask why I am fondling their fruit...

All of my paintings for this Challenge will be done in a 6 x 6 format,
and my main goal while painting from life
is to LOOSEN UP and USE MORE PAINT...
something which will only benefit my work.

This is really nice, Claire. I think the soft gray background works really well to show off the strawberries. Glass bottle looks good, too!

Your rendering of the glass is spot on!

This is wonderful piece. I especially love the reflected red on the glas.s

Sweet subjects - those strawberries are pretty lucky to be imoralized in a Claire painting! Love the light colors and the little bottle is just too sweet.

I meant imortalized, not imoralized..duh - if that is what I wrote

Thank you, Fay. I wanted a soft background for this so the strawberries would pop.

Thanks, Anne - I had a lot of fun painting that bottle!

Thanks very much, Sue. I love it when items pick up reflected color from other items in a still life.

Thanks, Pattie - I kind of like 'imoralized' better, as it give my little still life some notoriety!

Thanks so much, Sandy!

Thanks, Pat! You really don't want this cream...it is the same cream that was painted in my first milk jug - yuck!

Thanks so much for your comment, Hilda!

Thank you, Maria. I loved painting the different colors that were reflecting off one another.

Fondling their fruit? Oh you made me cackle aloud, Claire! I think this is so pretty and maybe it is the little cream bottle, but I am reminded of long ago times - think the old Dagwood and Blondie movies - when this was a breakfast staple.

Love this painting and the softness of all the colors that really set the strawberries off .
