This is my entry into the current DSFDF challenge. It was SO much fun to paint - good comp, rich colors. As I was painting my piece, the ear of corn above the onions magically tranformed itself into a fish...thanks to Karin Jurick for hosting these challenges!

Wow! fabulous! I love how that magic fish just appeared.
Love your creative view. Wonderful color and comp and handling of the medium. I agree that it was a fun one.
What a great idea. Fish goes good with this vegie plat.Bon appetit!
Thanks, everyone. This is my second DSFDF challenge entry, and I am having a lot of fun!
Don't you just love it when things "just happen" when you're painting! Beautiful work - I love your painting!!
Claire, your painting is very imaginative, with a striking and unusual composition.
I watched your website and was impressed by your art.
Bravo!
Thank you, hissnhowl - yes, it is great when things 'just happen'!
Sylviane, thanks for your very kind comments, and for taking the time to check out my website.
Beautiful painting... imaginative!!
Loved the painting of the "ghost tree" as well!!!
Carol
Nice painting, indeed! Taking artistic liberties is what painting is all about!
I had to do a double take when I looked at your painting! Where did that fish come from? Love the painting.
Thank you, Carol. Glad you liked my 'ghostly' sycamore tree too!
Denny, thanks for your comments. I agree with you one hundred percent about taking artistic liberties - it makes the painting your own.
Thanks, Diana. I was blocking in that particular ear of corn in the still life, when I suddenly realized that it could very easily morph into a fish...then it all came from within my head and out onto the canvas.
Great title. Very imaginative to change that ear of corn into a fish. Yours is unique!
Thank you, Carol. I was glad that it happened the way it did.
Thank you for your comment on my painting. When I saw you added a fish it made me smile. That was fun.
Beautiful painting...love the fish! Smallmouth bass?
This made me laugh out loud - the fish is wonderful! Beautifully painted too!
Thanks for your comments, Christine. I am so glad that it made you smile - I sure was smiling when I was painting it into the still life!
Carol, Thank you. This fish is totally imaginary, and based on the memories in my brain of all prior observations of fish! Just started with a shape, and went with it, truing to make it fit in with its surroundings - so if it looks like it actually resembles a species of fish, you have made my day!
Thanks so much, Jane.
Claire,
This really captured my attention, very creative! Nicely done, I like your work.
Thank you, Mary Anne. I appreciate your comments.
I'm loving this!! I added a rooster to mine...The fish is great!
This is wonderful Claire...the addition of the fish really makes it your own, bravo!
Deb, thanks for the comments - I can't wait to see your rooster!
