Day 11

For this day's painting I got my inspiration
from a garden other than my own.
Annette Braught very generously allowed a
group of plein air painters to set up in her
beautiful garden. The day was overcast
but the flowers were still brilliant.

I was especially attracted to this area of the
yard where the iris daisies, and poppies were
growing together. The poppies were just starting
to come out, and I liked that there was only
one brilliant poppy blossom completely open.

This turned out so well, Claire. You chose a great composition and painted it beautifully.

Claire,
This canvas size is perfect for the image.

I was just reading Richard Schmid's Alla Prima.
He refers to flowers as naughty children.
Your popping out poppies, diddly daisies, and irreverent irises are kinda like that!

Lovely.

This is just so very beautiful, Claire. I love these more English style gardens. So happy to see the little gate in the painting too. I think I could sit out in this yard for many hours. You've captured such a strong sense of peace and time (not sure how to explain what I mean)...
