SUMMER FIREFLIES

Day 38

A little bit of summer whimsy. The fireflies
have been magnificent this year, and I've been
watching them since they first appeared at the
beginning of June. From those observations, I just
sat down and painted what I remembered seeing.
What do you think?

This work is just beautiful Claire - a beautiful, balmy summer night is what I am seeing here! Those fireflies must have been difficult to paint! Lovely.

Beautifully done, Claire. I see something I haven't seen for quite a while, an evening sky filled with fireflies. I really like the purple and green, and the fireflies just sparkle.

I love this! When I was a kid I loved sitting on my grandmother's porch and watching the fireflies light up the mountains. This brings back great memories!

Thanks for your comments, everyone. I've always thought that fireflies were one of the most amazing creatures on this earth. I look forward to seeing them every Summer!

This is summer magic, Claire. I love it and I was thinking of this same technique for a similar slice of summer whimsy. Beautiful! I also look forward to seeing the lightening bugs every summer!

Thank you so much! I am in the process of getting ready for a show in September, so getting my challenge paintings down has been more 'challenging' - I can not tell you how much your kind comments encourage me to keep on plugging away.
